Why I Started Sleepy Steps

I’m Kyra, founder of Sleepy Steps

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re tired.

Maybe the nights feel long. Maybe naps are getting shorter and shorter. Or maybe it feels like you’ve tried everything and nothing is really working.

Believe me: you are not alone.

When my first daughter, Siënna, was born, I thought sleep would come naturally. Everyone kept saying, “It’s just a phase.” So that’s what I told myself too.

But our days were filled with short naps and broken nights. Siënna needed feeding or rocking to fall asleep, and she often woke up again soon after. And I was running on empty.

For a long time, we just kept pushing through. I wanted to be strong. To “just get through it.” But honestly? I felt exhausted, unsure of myself, and a little lost. I didn’t know what to do anymore, and sometimes it felt like I was doing something wrong.

Eventually, we decided to get help and worked with a sleep coach.

And suddenly, everything started to make sense.

I began to understand how baby sleep really works, and all I could think was:

“Why didn’t we do this sooner?”

During my second pregnancy, with Celeste, I knew I wanted to take a different approach. When she was five months old, I started working with a sleep coach again, this time intentionally and proactively.

It wasn’t a quick fix. We really took the time to get to know Celeste and figure out what worked for her. It was a process, made up of small steps… but that was exactly what made the difference.

That was my real aha moment.

It was so special to see both of my daughters learn to sleep with calm, loving support. Not through pressure or pushing, but through understanding, consistency, and trust.

And do you know what that gave me?

My energy back. My confidence back. My new purpose in life

And most of all: the ability to enjoy motherhood again.

I became fascinated by baby sleep, not because it’s always easy, but because of how deeply it can change life for a family.

That’s why I chose to become a certified Gentle Sleep Coach®, trained by Kim West (The Sleep Lady).

Today, I help other parents get their sleep back. With a gentle approach, small achievable steps, and a deep understanding of what parenthood really asks of you.

Step by step. Night by night.
